Ferndown
De grandeur van het huis is meteen duidelijk als je de weg in de gravelled rit draait. Loop de hal met dubbele volume in en je wordt verwelkomd door een interieur dat prachtig is ingericht. Het was cruciaal voor zowel de architect als de huiseigenaar dat het interieur niet werd overschaduwd door de smart home -technologie, en terecht.
In feite zou je rond het huis kijken, je zou worden vergeven omdat je niet onmiddellijk opgemerkt bent dat dit een smart home is vanwege het ontbreken van normale grote controlepanelen en banken van schakelaars. Omdat dit een goed voorbeeld is van een echt smart home, zul je merken dat de intelligentie eigenlijk achter de schermen ligt; Met Loxone die zorgt voor de verlichting, verwarming, veiligheid en toegangscontrole zonder de huiseigenaar of hun gasten die iets moeten doen.

De dagruimte
De belangrijkste smart home -functie in dit huis is duidelijk in het grote dagruimte -gebied – een immens open gebied op de begane grond, die door de hal door dubbele deuren voor je leidt. Daar vind je het vermakelijke hart van het huis. Een prachtig ingestelde zithoek met een zij-aan-zij open haard en flatscreen-tv die een functie muur sieren; een eettafel met 12 zitplaatsen en drinkbord; Geflankeerd door een dubbele volumekeuken met massieve strakke lijnen en een robuust eiland met drie moderne metallic uitgesneden hanglampen die boven hangen.
Dit dagruimte heeft een natuurlijk licht in overvloed dankzij een verscheidenheid aan ramen, dakramen en twee dubbele glazen deuren die zich openen op een wrap-around patio en smetteloze gazon.
Alle dingen helder en mooi
Verlichting was het belangrijkste aspect van het huis dat de familie intelligent geautomatiseerd wilde zijn, en op afstand kon kunnen controleren. Met Loxone is dit precies wat Amica heeft geleverd.
Door het hele huis gaan lichten automatisch in en uit, wat aangeeft dat de familie zich nooit zorgen hoeft te maken als ze een licht op laten. Wanneer het gezin thuiskomt van het werk of op school, beginnen de lichten automatisch op te gaan op basis van het tijdstip van de dag en het lichtniveau in de kamer. Als de kamer voldoende natuurlijk zonlicht heeft, hoeven de lichten niet eens aan te gaan. Dit is geweldig voor delen van het huis, zoals de dagruimte, waar natuurlijk licht op een zonnige dag kan binnenstromen. Natuurlijk, na de schemering of als het een bewolkte dag is, gaan de lichten met beweging aan om ervoor te zorgen dat de kamer voldoende is verlicht.

Ze zijn geschokt en verrast hoe gemakkelijk het systeem kan worden bestuurd en hoe veel verschillende lichten kunnen worden gecombineerd om dus veel verschillende sferen te creëren. ”
De slimme verlichting in dit huis past ook het lichtniveau aan op basis van tijd. Wanneer het bijvoorbeeld 3 uur is en iemand de doucheruimte of een reis naar de keuken moet gebruiken, schakelen de lichten aan op een apart laag niveau of slechts één verlichtingscircuit TURns on so that there is just enough light to find one’s way around but not so much as to dazzle them or wake any individual else up.
Things are Heating Up
The way we interact with our home changes for the better when living with home automation. There are so lots of tasks that a Loxone system just takes care of for us. In this smart home, one certain feature that you’ll likely never need to interact with, thanks to the intelligent level of automation happening behind the scenes, is the zoned smart heating… Gone are the days of having to fiddle with the heating controls as a Loxone system is regularly learning and simply looks after itself. must the family have guests stay over, the room temperature can be easily adjusted.
There is another aspect to the smart heating in this home that is actually one of Ben’s much-loved features:
“Although the shower room may already be great and warm from the buildings superb installation, or a charming summer day’s sun; you can still have warm, dry towels when you get out of the shower – even though the zoned heating has no reason to be on. It’s thanks to the Towel Rail improve function which switches just the towel rails on for 20 minutes at a time. Thanks to the way Loxone controls the heating system, the boiler can heat a towel radiator up in no time at all, much quicker than an electric towel rail in fact. Also, we used the humidity sensor to activate the underfloor heating and extractor fan to dry the room out if moisture builds up – which has also [turned out to be] a great feature for the family (again something that works well in the background without being noticed).”
The heating system is zoned, which indicates energy is not lost heating all the rooms at the same time. If the family is enjoying a motion picture in the upstairs lounge before going to bed, then it makes no sense heating the larger reception area downstairs at the same time. Of course, the intelligent separation of heating zones is all controlled by Loxone – automatically. The heating for each room runs to its own schedule and custom-made temperature. The temperature in each room is read by the Touch switches, which indicates there’s no need for separate temperature sensors – another great way that the technology doesn’t distract from the interior.
Not everyone’s life runs to a best schedule though, and a Loxone smart home knows this. If the family arrive home earlier than expected, or if they are entertaining guests and motion is still detected at the time a heating schedule is indicated to end, the home will make sure that the relevant rooms reach and maintain a comfortable temperature. All this is done without any individual needing to adjust a thermostat or reach for an app.
Nachtstand
With a triple click of the bedside Touch the entire home begins to put itself to bed as ‘Night Mode’ activates; with any lights that aren’t required turning themselves off and even arming the downstairs rooms for security. All heating zones that are still seeking to the schedule will end early to not waste energy & money.
Garage and Gate
As the project neared completion, control of the gate and garage door were added to the Loxone system. This not only gives the family the ability to open and close these from the Loxone smart home app but also shows them whether or not the garage is open – no matter whether they’re in bed or on holiday.
Switches and Sensors
Darren (the architect) and Ben were both keen to make sure that the design of the home wasn’t compromised by any intelligent technology going in; and it wasn’t. switches and sensors were placed in calculated areas to allow seamless control over the system but also to have no negative impact on the home’s design. For this, the multifaceted Loxone Touch was the best fit.
Smart Garden
As future-proofing their home was a requirement of this family during the planning stage, Amica made a decision to install one additional Loxone component during the build to make sure that when the family are ready to add smart home functionality to the garden, such as smart lighting, then there is the option to do so without hassle.
Set over three floors, this exceptional home has been made even a lot more exceptional thanks to the way that Loxone has been used to intelligently automate the lighting, heating, safety and access control.
